TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

The Statement extracted from a Government paper regarding the requirements to be met by all Therapeutic or Caring Organizations.

GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES

  • A therapy must be able to demonstrate beyond reasonable doubt that it is effective, no matter how difficult this may be.
  • It must show that it has an established and recognised governing body.
  • It must show that it is based on a systematic body of knowledge, which need not be wholly scientific in the conventional sense, but which should somehow be compatible with the general body of knowledge.
  • The therapists practising the therapy should have a reasonable working relationship with medical doctors.
  • There must be a recognised course of training, standardised throughout the therapy, with demonstrably adequate examinations that make use of external examiners.
  • There must be an acceptable and adequate Code of Conduct regulating the relationships with patients, and members of the professions.
  • There must also be a clear indication that members are bound by this Code of Conduct in terms of a disciplinary procedure.
  • Patients must be safeguarded at all times.
  • Patients should be advised to notify their General Practitioner that they are consulting a therapist.

GENERAL NOTES

Currently the Healing sector is self-regulatory. U.K. Healers are working together under advice from the Foundation for Integrated Health to establish standards of good healing practice, to enable the standardisation of training throughout the healing movement.

K.I.H.A has a Constitution, Code of Conduct, Complaints, Disciplinary Procedures and Training Programme in place.

CURRENT TRAINING

K.I.H.A. operate a training programme that will enable Student Energy therapists to acquire knowledge and skills in a variety of areas, and for support and guidance to be provided by a Tutor during the training period, when practice under guidance will take place.

Whilst energy healing is considered to be an innate gift and not necessarily an intellectual matter/study, it is generally expected that the Student will be guided in acquiring some knowledge in: - basic anatomy and physiology, with some understanding of the nature of disease, listening skills, chakras, energy centres and auras, attunement and meditation, contact and distant healing practice and procedures. Familiarity with K.I.H.A Code of Conduct and the Complaints & Disciplinary Procedures will be essential, as will good record keeping procedures, together with an understanding of the effect on record keeping, regarding the Data Protection Act 1998 (2000), and awareness of the various laws that affect the relationship between therapist and client.
