Become a K.I.H.A. Tutor

Our Tutors are the lifelines of the Association, without them we would not continue to grow. It is our normal procedure to invite members after a three year period, to train as a Tutor, They will have had experience of teaching in some form or another, e.g. running workshops or development groups. Some have teaching qualifications but this is not essential. We provide a one-day seminar complete with a power point presentation, training manual and Q & A pack. We also encourage our Tutors to utilise their own skills and develop the course to suit the individual student or students.

Tutors are expected to cover all sections in the training guide, which covers the training period set out by the Association. The manual is a basic guide that explains all that a student is required to know for assessment. The tutor can explain further in-depth details, as they feel necessary.

A Tutor will need to have good organisational skills, discipline, tact, good listening skills and, above all, possess lots of enthusiasm.

Some of our Tutors teach groups, whereas others prefer to work on a one to one basis. Most of our Tutors hold groups once a month as this makes the commitment much easier for both the Tutor and the student without time constraints, as long as the minimum number of hours are covered over the agreed training period. An alternative agreement can also be made between the Tutor and the student providing the Training Co-ordinator is in agreement.

Some Tutors choose to have other Therapists come in to enhance the training programme, holding workshops, demonstrations and talks.
